All-German Rennsteiglauf

It's amazing how time flies when today the name "All-German Rennsteiglauf" already seems antiquated. In the GDR, for me the Rennsteig from the high sun in Eisenach to Neuhaus am Rennweg. The actual endpoint in Blankenstein 50 km behind Neuhaus was not just out of reach in the border area. To access the Rennsteig getting there, we had more time to cross the border. 20 years ago, it was then giant-time event, the first time to the whole Rennsteig migration or drainage. Other events at that time were more significant for me, though. Only a few years ago when I had the Rennsteig relay 50 km from Blankenstein Neuhaus partly to mostly met regularly in a support vehicle.
The invitation to the group delay over 50 km along this route, therefore, appealed to me mainly because of the distance and me little-known landscape. However, in times when Blankenstein at the beginning of Rennsteig, is the founder of Rennsteiglauf and Deputy Mayor, who was then the border guards report, as it looked 20 years ago here, then you can already a sense of the historical dimension. Then there was champagne and television ever filmed our start.
The group delay with explanations, there was plenty to see and Rennsteiglauf inventor Hans Georg Kremer let us stay again. It quickly became clear to us why for the 50 km were at least nine hours scheduled. So we zottelten the slow pace of jogging and walking, even with small hills there. The sun-drenched us as never before in this year and I struggled with myself to not have packed shorts.
The Landscape of the Thuringian Slate Mountains, with the rounded ridges and deep valleys, so different in the northern Thuringian Forest. The towns are small, sleepy and slate covers. But in many places, residents greeted us, and supplemented the meals in the support vehicles. The breaks were more extensive and interesting discussions with the 30 followers in the orange shirt. Amazing was that we got almost exactly 18 clock in Neuhaus. Overall, it was the long solitary "run" of my sporting life. For most ultra runner is "arrive with dignity" is a desirable goal. Because for 18 km at Osterlauf around the dam Heyda in Ilmenau "Arriving in dignity," but somehow was little challenging, I had more respect than before the run before the 6 hours in the past week.

Back in the bad luck goal would be almost gone, the rust of the sausage was already empty. But a half-sausage for everyone but still found himself on the warming surface. There is still some justice.
